I am a Sydney-based print maker, paper maker and mixed media artist,. Since early 2018 I have been working from Studio 29B which I share with two others - Anthea Boesenberg and Anna Russell.
I am inspired by nature, human relationships and textured surfaces. My work draws attention to small moments in life and in the envronment. I’m forever picking up things I find on the street, in the bush and as I walk through the light industrial area on my way to the studio. After the first rush of delight in discovery I quickly move on to thinking about how I can print on this treasure; draw with it or print with it. The resulting marks are both organised and random. They reflect the found object, yet the object may not be identifiable in the work. I experiment with where and how much to push the works beyond what the ‘find’ initially provided me with. I am a member of Primrose Paper Arts, Warringah Printmakers and the Print Council of Australia. The monoprint, below (a collaboration with Sue Thomas) reflects on a hard day's art-making at Fowler's Gap in western NSW, It captures the excitement, exhilaration and energy that motivates me to spend a large chunk of my life making and thinking about art. |
